How to Care for Dry Skin?

Creating an effective care routine for dry skin helps maintain the skin's moisture level and gives it a healthy and radiant appearance.

Dry skin care consists of basic steps. As a first step, it is important to cleanse the skin of dirt using a gentle and moisturizing cleanser. Alcohol-free formulas should be preferred and frequent washing should be avoided as this can cause the skin to dry out. Then, an alcohol-free toner should be used to restore the moisture balance. Toner regulates the skin's natural pH balance and allows moisturizing products to be absorbed more effectively. The moisturizing step is the basis of dry skin care. Richer formulas can be preferred, especially for night care. What Causes Dry Skin?

Several important conditions play a role in the formation of dry skin. First, the disruption of the skin's natural oil and moisture balance is a major factor. The natural oil called sebum found on the skin's surface moisturizes and protects the skin. This oil production can decrease with the underfunctioning of the sebaceous glands or the aging process, which reduces the skin's ability to retain moisture and can cause a feeling of dryness. Environmental factors also play an important role in the formation of dry skin. Factors such as cold weather, wind, dry air or hot water can absorb the skin's natural moisture and cause the skin to dry out. Using the wrong skin care products can also cause dry skin. Aggressive cleansers, toners containing alcohol or excessive peeling can disrupt the skin's natural moisture balance and cause dryness. In addition, hormonal changes (for example; pregnancy or menopause) and genetic predisposition can also be effective in the formation of dry skin.

 

What Are Natural Skin Moisturizers?

Natural skin moisturizers include effective options such as sweet almond oil , grapefruit peel essential oil , pomegranate seed oil and black cumin seed oil . Sweet almond oil is a rich source of moisture for the skin; it nourishes, softens and moisturizes the skin with the vitamin E and fatty acids it contains. Grapefruit peel essential oil, when applied diluted with a fixed oil (it should never be applied to the skin without dilution), protects the skin's natural moisture balance while cleansing and refreshing the skin with its antiseptic properties. Pomegranate seed oil nourishes and rejuvenates the skin with its strong antioxidant content and strengthens the moisture barrier, reducing dryness and irritation. Black cumin seed oil also protects the skin's moisture balance while calming and nourishing the skin with its anti-inflammatory properties.
